Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to support your next step.
What is spiritual counselling?
Spiritual counselling is a therapeutic practice that focuses on the spiritual and existential aspects of an individual’s life. It involves exploring and addressing spiritual concerns, fears, self-worth, trauma, habitual patterns in order to uncover meaning, purpose and healing in life.
How can spiritual counselling help me?
Spiritual counselling can provide support and guidance during challenging times, offer clarity and direction in life, and foster a deeper connection with God. We may explore one’s own narrative so that we may unlock and release what may be stuck. Using a spiritual framework enables us to begin to live our lives in alignment with healthy core values, renewing or rebuilding our lives from that foundation and the ongoing flow of intimacy with God.
What is intercession?
An intercession is an act of prayer and petition on behalf of others or oneself. It involves seeking divine intervention and blessings for healing, protection, or guidance. The Holy Spirit is accessible through loving relationship, and to those who knock, the door is opened. As your intercessor, I will intercede with God, asking on your behalf for your needs to be met. Intercession is not a simple fix. It requires ongoing growth and healing and intimacy with God in the one who requests intercession so that God’s love and mercy can be poured out on you, so that we are prepared to receive what He has for us.
Can I benefit from intercession even if I’m not religious?
Absolutely! Intercession is open to everyone, regardless of religious affiliations. Yet, my guidance is Christ centered, meaning that I believe it is through the death and resurrection of Jesus that tore the veil of the Kingdom of God allowing us as His children to come directly to Him. And in that receive what we are seeking.
Are the sessions conducted in person or online?
I offer online sessions only at this time. My online sessions maintain the same privacy and efficacy as in-person meetings, and are held over Zoom.
How long are the counselling sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes long. We will have an initial dialogue over email or phone at an earlier date which will provide some preparation for our session and determine if our services are what you are looking for.
Is everything discussed during the counselling sessions confidential?
Yes, everything you discuss is 100% confidential. We provide you with a waiver form to read and sign after our brief introductory conversation once we decide to work together which protects you as the client and us at Ascended Counselling.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions you will need is determined by what issue(s) you might be addressing and your experience with and preparation for our first sessions. Depending on how much time and energy you have outside of our session to give to your healing and wellness may also contribute to how many sessions are needed. Ultimately, you as the client and I as counsellor give healing over to the Holy Spirit. We can not accurately predict results. But we absolutely trust and are witness to what happens when clients turn their hearts fully towards spiritual relationship with God.
Are your services covered by insurance?
No, Ascended Counselling is not covered by extended health insurance at this time.
Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
Yes, I’m an inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming practitioner. My practice is inclusive and affirming for everyone. I provide a non-judgmental space regardless of factors such as socio-economic, gender, sexuality, or cultural or religious background.
